Ultimate TiviMate M3U Playlist & EPG Guide: How to Fix Buffering & Guide Data

Nothing ruins a live championship game or movie night faster than sudden video buffering or missing program descriptions ("No Information") on your TV guide. In this troubleshooting guide, we cover the technical causes of IPTV buffering in TiviMate and how to configure your M3U playlist with EPG for 100% stability.

1. Why Does TiviMate Buffer?

Buffering is almost always caused by one of three bottlenecks:

  • Provider Server Congestion: Low-cost providers oversell their server bandwidth. During primetime sporting events, their connections choke.
  • ISP Throttling: Internet Service Providers often throttle unencrypted streaming video traffic during peak evening hours.
  • TiviMate Buffer Cache Exhaustion: Setting the buffer size too low causes video frames to drop when minor network jitter occurs.

2. How to Set Up Automated EPG Sync

To prevent missing program data, always ensure your EPG source is directly bound to your playlist:

  1. Go to Settings > Playlists, click your active playlist, and select EPG Sources.
  2. Confirm the XMLTV EPG URL is toggled ON.
  3. Navigate to Settings > EPG and click Clear EPG, followed by Update EPG.
  4. Set Update on playlist change and Update interval to 12 hours.
